Turner Building Firm has topped out one of many new buildings going up on the flood-ravaged Offutt Air Pressure Base close to Omaha, Nebraska.
Vertical building is now completed on the three-storey, 420,000-square-foot Non-Kinetic Operations Campus on the base, which was inundated by the Missouri River in March 2019.
Round 720 million gallons of water broken 137 constructions and displaced 3,200 personnel on the base, headquarters to the US Strategic Command.
A $1.2bn, seven-building reconstruction programme bought underway in January 2020.
It started with elevating the bottom’s floor stage by a few metre with 515,000 cubic metres of earth.
In August 2023, the US Military Corps of Engineers awarded Turner a $389m design-build contract to construct the operations campus – used for intelligence, coaching, upkeep, and reconnaissance – and a 5,000-square-foot defence courier station with architects CRTKL.
Turner says it’s the ultimate section of the reconstruction marketing campaign.
