Aecom has received a contract to offer programme administration for brand spanking new water infrastructure within the Peel Area municipality west of Toronto because it prepares for a surge of recent housing sparked by the province of Ontario’s controversial Invoice 23.
Handed by the province’s legislature in November 2022, the invoice – entitled the “Extra Properties Constructed Quicker Act” – goals to extend housing density by making it simpler for property homeowners create three residential items on heaps zoned for one, amongst different measures.
It helps the province’s aim of constructing 1.5 million new housing items by 2031.
Critics have argued it is going to result in increased property taxes and weaken conservation powers.
