Siemens Mobility has introduced plans to construct a $60m manufacturing facility in New York State to fabricate high-speed trains for the Brightline West route between Las Vegas and southern California.
The plant, America’s first, will occupy a 300,000 sq ft website within the village of Horseheads within the centre of the state. When operational in 2026, 300 workers shall be employed on making American Pioneer 220 trains. That is an ultrawide design capable of journey at speeds of as much as 330km/h. It can characteristic a “party-car” that enables passengers to drink in a lounge coach.
Michael Reininger, Brightline’s chief government, mentioned: “For the primary time ever within the US, we shall be manufacturing trains that can compete with the very best on the earth. Siemens Mobility is working with the Worldwide Affiliation of Machinists and Aerospace Employees to carry union employees to the location.
