Swedish contractor Skanska and Swedish engineering consultancies Sweco and Rejlers are choosing up gentle rail-related work in Helsinki because the Finnish capital enters a decade of tramline growth to accommodate a rising inhabitants.
An alliance of those three together with two Finnish companies – geotechnical engineer Sipti Infra and designers Arkkitehtityöhuone APRT – have received a €252m contract to design and construct a substitute for town’s Koskela tram depot.
Masking 41,000 sq m in space, the brand new depot replaces a facility courting again 80 years. It is going to be capable of retailer and preserve as much as 50 trams.
Skanska is the primary contractor for the undertaking. Work begins within the first quarter of subsequent 12 months and is scheduled to complete within the second quarter of 2029.
